Cast aluminum as a material creates a nice sturdy mailbox, and since aluminum doesn’t rust, it also lasts a long time maintenance-free.
The Cast Hummingbird Wall Mount Mailbox was one of the mailboxes that changed the mailbox business (along with the Cast Floral Leaf and Contemporary mailboxes). Prior to these units, which were introduced back in 1995, almost all mailboxes were made from sheet metal. This was one of the first mass produced cast aluminum mailboxes sold here in the US. In those days we could hardly keep them in-stock. Those first generation mailboxes were “sand-cast” which produced more inconsistent finishes. Nowadays they are “die-cast” and the mailboxes are beautiful and very high quality.
Still a popular item today, this mailbox is available in solid colors glossy black, textured black, mocha, white and oil rubbed bronze (very very dark brown – almost black). Also available in accent colors antique copper, Swedish silver, and antique verde.
